Sunset Family Photos at Lake Crabtree County Park in Raleigh | Raleigh Family Photographer

I was excited to meet the Mickey family last fall for sunset family photos at Lake Crabtree County Park in Raleigh, NC. They had found me through Instagram after seeing some fun photos I’d captured for a long-time friend. The mom requested “less forced smiles and more real reactions.” I was happy to deliver on that.

We started with some posed, Christmas card-appropriate photos and then moved into a series of prompts I keep top of mind to help capture candid, joyful moments. It helped that their 7-year-old daughter has the best and biggest personality. See some of my favorite shots from this session below.
