RACHEL’S PUMPING POWER PHOTO SESSION TO CELEBRATE 1 YEAR OF EXCLUSIVELY PUMPING

I’ve been photographing Rachel and her husband John since I moved to Raleigh, NC in late 2018. Over the last 6 years, I’ve watched them grow in their careers, buy their dream home near the fairgrounds, and settle into a beautiful, love-filled life. I truly think the world of these two.

That’s why I was THRILLED when Rachel announced she was pregnant with her daughter Swain and was due just a few weeks after my third baby. I’ve been so fortunate to spend the last year watching Rachel grow into this fiercely passionate, empathetic, and intuitive mother who throws her entire soul into caring for her baby. And part of how she’s chosen to care for baby Swain is by exclusively pumping breastmilk for the last year.

I’m a fierce believer in “fed is best” and applaud every way that parents choose to feed their babies. But there’s so much focus put on the sacrifice of breastfeeding and the beautiful connection that comes with breastfeeding your child. We don’t spend enough time lifting up the parents that sacrifice for and bond with their babies in other ways.

By her most recent calculations, Rachel has spent 30,525 minutes over the last year pumping breastmilk for her baby. That’s 508.75 hours (or 21.19 days if you’re fancy). This Pumping Power session was designed to document her sacrifice and love, celebrate her strength and commitment, and leave her with beautiful and honest memories of this time in her life. I hope you love them as much as I do.
